I need help w/beam placement and to paint or not paint fireplace brick
Comments (13)Rachel - thank you - you shared great photos - I will post pictures next week after the walls and trim are painted in Dove White. I really like that black paint idea on fireplace- such a bold move but I love the white fireplaces you show which seem safer. Black happens to be in the wallpaper I am currently hanging in the foyer today. Pics attached. Changing trim and walls white all over the house is a huge transformation from my dingy dark trim and walls and I am creating a monster that is snowballing. The dining room rug looks horrible with my wallpaper so I am now in search of a new rug there and one for the family room and now I need new furniture in there as well. Suggestions are welcome from anyone - It is painted Dove white and you can see the new foyer paper with the new blue study. What about a blue or green velvet sofa with all white room. I have 2 cats and someone said that they are not as attracted to velvet. I am not painting the built-ins around fireplace just yet because I have not picked out kitchen cabinets. Maybe I can have the built-ins sprayed white or the blue??? I could also try to change the trim or molding to make them more modern and even wonder if wood shelves would look good to match my dream beams. Ripping out the built-ins and replacing will be costly unless I find some cool furniture pieces to go there. I will also hold off on the painting the fireplace so I can see what the brick looks with an all white room. My painters love me and they come back every two weeks for my next Phase of renovation. : )...See Morepainted Fireplace dilemma
Comments (9)Thanks all! Thoughts on layering a jute or sisal under the Loloi rug? I thought it’d be big enough but room def needs more. Am thinking adding lighter base could tie in natural mantel (which we were gonna stain—bought it that way and just threw up there with no intention of keeping but kinda growing on us....same with chachkee on mantel- no way final, was just what was laying around/playing with shape & dimensions. Thoughts??...See MorePaint Fireplace?
Comments (2)I personally love the stone, it is very warm and comfy. Playing off of theresen's idea, here's your accent color behind the TV along with a throw pillow. Even more, I would cover up that prefab fireplace with a beautiful Custom Fireplace Screen and throw in some interesting andirons and fireplace tools. Plant on the left for balance. The fireplace accessories can also be done in a bronze color to tie in with the chandelier, but they just show up better in this mockup in pewter or satin nickel, which also blends well with navy....See MoreFreshly painted in FB Stone Blue, what color to paint fireplace?
Comments (8)Hmm, thank you for all the suggestions. The black trim is certainly going, even if painted or washed in the same color. I may consider the light grey wash for the near future to keep a natural but modern look. I will certainly take the advice of not painting with much of a sheen as well if thats the route I go. I really like the idea of building a wood surround and painting that white, but I do wonder about the color of the hearth remaining black if i then go about painting the wood trim surround white. I came accross this which inspired me to have a black fireplace, but i suppose it is a different look than what is already there. I was hoping to keep the cost down, but its not put of the question for a diy job or maybe adding it to the wish list down the line. As far as decoration- i do like the boho style, but my choice of decoration hasnt been leaning that way and it would clash. I do like the yellow though. Last, but not least, when the kids grow up more in a few years, i am flirting with the idea of moving the coffee table into the family room & play around with a different coffee table to better fit the room and fireplace if needed. Anyway Anyway, thanks again. Any other suggestions would be appreciated....See Morekculbers
