Jakson and Perkins Nightmare - Buyer Beware
Comments (41)Your reply from JP sounds like an automated response. I'd bet no human being ever even saw your original email, let alone typed in the response. It sounds to me like a canned script that picks up your name from your email, retrieves the ship date of your order from their database, and then sends out this automated reply. No, there is no Barbara. It's all just a computer database script. That's the direction customer service has been going for some years now. I'm sorry you've had such trouble. They used to be an ok company. The roses in your photo don't look all that bad, but the service was horrible. And yes bare root roses are often shipped totally bare, no sawdust or anything. The white fuzzy stuff on shipped roses is usually botrytis. Light infestations die off quickly once the plant is in the open air, but heavier infestations have to be trimmed off. Let's hope your roses grow fine!...See MoreBeware! 55gal. drums from carwash...
Comments (8)Gorgi: I buy the plastic drums at a resale shop, a junk shop. If I were you and did not know where to find any I would call the bottlers near me and ask how they disposed of these. They might sell them to you, or they might tell you who bought them and how to contact the buyer. My experience with these has been that they must be supported solidly all the way around (sit them on a flat surface) or they will warp. I put two of them on furniture dollies and they wound up egg-shaped by the end of summer. They are now sitting flat on my driveway and are beginning to resume their circular shape. I used three of them to cover figs for the winter last Fall, and when I took the barrels off this spring the figs were in good shape. Ox...See MoreQuality of Bassett Furniture?
Comments (112)To start, I am in Interior Design with 15+ of dealing with furniture as low quality as Ashley to some of the higher end pieces in the world. I have owned several Bassett Pieces thoughout the years and they have held up fantastic! Unlike some of the comments on here I'd like to state that rougher you and your family is on furniture the shorter the life span. It seems like common sense, but I've seen it all. Bassett has 3 quality levels: Entry (2-5 years), Medium (4-8 years) and highest (8-15+). so if you're looking to cheap out, don't expect a lifelong sofa. I also cannot stress this enough, ALL FABRICS PILL, with the exception of the ugly microfiber(P.S. probably one of the worst materials to put on your sofa, btw). However, Bassett is very clear about the materials that go into making their fabrics. So either do research on material (cotton, linen, polyester, olefin, etc) or ask your sales person, I am sure they'd be happy to show you the contents of the fabric. Lastly, remember that most people on these theads usually are unhappy about something. so you're only seeing the negatives, because most happy customers do not leave reviews. I am leaving this honest review because I too have had a framing issue with one of my sofas, however I understand that some accidents may happen during transporting, and the furniture is HAND MADE people, no one is perfect 100% of the time. Are you? Please make a smart purchase, and take a deep look into your family and how they treat furniture before deciding what quality you want ....See MoreBuyer Beware! Vanguard Sectional Couch total failure1
Comments (4)Sabrina sorry you didn't have a good experience but personally I think Vanguard makes a very nice product, one of the best. Do your cushions have a foam core. All down cushions will pack down and they do become uncomfortable. A better choice is a mix of down, feathers and fiber in a mix of 50% down and feathers with about 80 to 90% feathers and the balance in down (10 to 20% of 50%) and 50% fiber. The best choice is a spring down mix suggested by Elite Interiors but with a 3/4" fiber wrap around the springs, followed by a few inches of high quality foam and then a down, feather and fiber wrap followed by a down proof ticking. In my opinion you made a good choice and I would say you did get a good value but that the cushions chosen were not the best option. Often times consumers think that is what they want. Your salesperson should have suggested some other options. However you can order new cushion cores. You might contact Vanguard customer service and see if they will sell you some at wholesale explaining your situation or go online and google a cushion replacement company of which their are several. If you go the down, feather and fiber route I think they are referred to as an envelope cushion. You might get these for about $100 each plus frt. You could also contact an upholsterer but expect to pay 2 to 3 times as much. A far as the time delay I might expect that there was a fabric delay from the Mill which can happen and is somewhat out of Vanguards control especially as they carry hundreds of fabrics and couldn't expect to have all of these in stock. I recently visited the High Point International Furniture show and carefully examined every high end fully upholstered furniture company. The two best in my opinion, Vanguard and Taylor King. I was taken on a tour of Vanguard by the owner of the company and found the presentation very impressive and well tailored....See MoreHU-931677328
