Comments (1)got it :-) Lucy...See MoreI. Just. Might. Cry. *range hood*
Comments (20)Wow...what a great guy. I love your hood choice. I don't think I saw that one before. Now for the bad news...I have the Bentwood from Old World Stone Works. You do need to make sure that you can support the weight with extra studs in the wall. The entire weight of the thing is canted backwards so the extra studs are mandatory. You may also need to reinforce the framing underneath depending on your beams. The install must be done by a mason ($1500) and the liner/blower is separate also. All in all, my hood came to $5600 and that was with me doing the HVAC, extra framing in the wall and insert/blower install. I chose the Bentwood because I liked the price at $2300. My original true love of a curvy copper hood was out of my price range. Ironically, I ended up spending more than the copper one by the time everything was done. I would not choose this hood again unless I installed it before the rest of the kitchen. Here is why. After the install, you are supposed to wash it (actually the mason is) with muriatic acid to clean off the extra mortar and smudges etc from the install. Since muriatic acid is a really harsh acid, the fumes actually etch stainless steel. I already had all my appliances installed so I skipped this step. This meant that I couldn't seal it since the smudges would have gotten sealed in. So now, it has tomato stains and coffee stains and grease splatters etc. Did you already buy the blower? If you did, you should be able to get a very similar look by having a creative carpenter build you one out of wood framing and drywall and covering it with plaster. Buy some really fancy corbels from Restorer's to incorporate the corbels and some appliques for the fancy trim. It will give you a similar look without the aggravation Good Luck!...See MoreShould I go to Step-daughters wedding?
Comments (68)agree with coleen. there was this story on parents forum. This one lady posted her story as estranged parent and how her DIL treated her poorly and that's why she does not talk to her son or somehting of the sort. It did sound like a real story. But people made suggestions to her that she might be too harsh on her DIL and her son, so she should try to treat them nice because they sure cannot be as evil as she decsribed. She got upset and dissapeared. But then as time passed some newly registered member posted a thread about her MIL, in this thread this "young lady" was telling the same story but now from a position of DIL. and she portrayed herself as selfish and mean DIL. Now everybody is yelling and screaming: how dare you be so mean to your MIL, you are so evil and selfish. As time passed though it turned out that that same original poster (MIL) created a new name and decided to impersonate evil DIL as to convince everybody that DIL trully is evil. When it was uncovered both posters (or actually one under 2 names)dissapeared. So people do bizzare stuff to prove the point or waste everybody's time. On the other hand it is OK to discuss hypothetical situation with the wedding or with whatever else even if it is made up. Who cares if it is real, it is not like it makes a difference for us, right? The only difference is that with real story people can provide clarifications and true details to help with discussion but in made up stories we don't have that....See Moremaddielee
