Healthy Lifestyle Progress - Week of 3/5
Comments (17)GS sounds great-- I had more beans this week too and I will keep that up. I like them and they are sooo filling! And thanks for mentioning facials, massages etc .. your post encouraged me to use self care kinda things for "treats".. the next bunch of weeks are going to be a strain and my birthday is in April. I will definitely be wanting treats and rewards that are not food! I think I may get some new sneakers too-- I have been wanting to try the On Cloud sneakers ever since I bought my niece a pair in Oct. Sue, great roadtrip options! Hope you have a great trip! Is this the weekend in PA? I had actually thought about going into Phila today but nixed that when the temps plummeted. Among other things, I wanted to go to the Weitzman museum downtown to choose another trovelore pin for my jean jacket. Instead, I will make a pot of soup today -- not sure what as yet. I have to consult the pantry and go from there. I am also going to do some shopping for tops and/or jewelry to up my video game. I have been doing 5-6 interviews a week and I have been looking blah. i want to perk up my look!...See MoreHealthy Lifestyle Progress - Week of 5/7
Comments (34)So i realized today that I am about 1/2 way to wear I think I will be comfortable weight wise. It's been 2 yr that I have been focused on losing and I am down 68 lb. Still a long way to go but pretty much where I was weight wise in my late 30s.. and by 40, I was down to a comfortable weight (which I maintained until my late 40s). The target I am envisioning is still larger than most women would be happy with -- but I know I don't like how I look when "skinny". My bone structure is too big. I appreciate all the support from you all .. and it helps a lot.. but I am not happy with my appearance and I don't feel strong or fit. i recently passed an important personal milestone (the weight I was when I met SO) but I expected to feel better about my progress at this point. I was more fit then... but I was also in love lol so there's that too. I will keep pressing forward as I am seeking better health AND I want to look better. They will both come. I just need to stop focusing on my appearance. It is absolutely better than it was 68lb ago and I think it will change even faster over the next 68lb. It's funny, Niece#2 is struggling with the same. She's lost 28 lb since December but is currently stalled. I give HER all teh advice I should be giving myself. So now after I talk to her, I give myself the same pep talk I've just given her. And to you all.. we really need to celebrate our successes both healthwise and weight wise and stop undermining our progress with the "not good enoughs"....See MoreHealthy Lifestyle Progress - Week of 2/11/2024
Comments (29)Oakley hope the medication works. It seems to be working for my DS who has bad bad blood sugar fluctuations and not a great relationship with healthy food. She will be 65 soon enough so I don't think that will change. Shrug. Glad to hear that some of you are doing well with the water. Not I. It seems I can only get down two drinks a day. One is half water half juice and the other one is a cup of ginger tea or decaf coffee. I try to drink another half glass of water in the early evening but always seem to forget. Also I'm not a good protein eater. I think I'm failing in that whole healthy food thing. I fail dismally at replacing the meat for vegetarian protein sources, as I only eat chicken fish and seafood, when I eat animal protein food and often forget to do that. I do eat eggs in the morning and about every third day I add tinned sardines to my faux pho. I love it when I have it but can't have noodle soup everyday. Also I am disappointed that I can't dance my way into muscles.. ;-):-). I have to do more weightlifting so I'm going to try a Zumba with light weights class. I know I need it and if it is successful I will continue to utilize dance with weightlifting. I know they suggest backpacking with weights as well so perhaps I will try that. I suppose I could dance while I am backpacking ;-). Wishing everyone continued success and still totally envious of those who have Pilates in their life. Can't afford it. For some reason can't find a Pilates instruction online that I stick with. So far. ETA this squats improving exercise set. I find this very helpful. https://youtu.be/BqF90pMpjb4?si=VMl19XEFa5C5Ia0E...See MoreHealthy Lifestyle Progress - Week of 3/10/2024
Comments (15)Funky, I ate at a restaurant similar to what Clean Eatz looks like a month or so ago. It's called True Food Kitchen, and they have locations around the country. I was surprised at the quality of food for a reasonable price. I don't recall what I had, but I do remember thinking I could probably take half of it home and serve it over greens and quinoa or something. There were ways I could "stretch" the meal itself with healthy fillers. It's great that options like these are becoming more available. Legomom, I haven't eaten at Chipotle in several years, but it was a family favorite when my kids were younger and in sports. I recall getting the bowls, and would divide it in half and serve each half over more lettuce and added salsa for fillers. That might be an idea, and technically would spread out the seed oils/plastic exposure. I understand your concerns there. I recently switched to loose leaf tea because of microplastics in many tea bags. I found a great local source, but guess what? The bulk tea is sold in plastic bags. And last night I watched the What the Health documentary on Netflix, and now I don't know what to eat anymore. It seems all of our food sources have been compromised in some way. But the documentary did include Dr. Michael Greger, who I follow on IG and who my trusted dietician friend recommends as someone who's advice is science-based. He helps run this site: https://nutritionfacts.org/ It's a rabbit hole, though....See Moregsciencechick
