It can be cut with a diamond blade in a circular saw. Tape the top of the slab so the saw's plate doesn't scratch the granite. I'd recommend clamping a straightedge...something like a piece of wood...to the granite to guide your saw. Cut in a couple of passes. Try to cut too deep and too fast and you can overheat the blade, the blade will expand and get wobbly. Try to cut too slowly and you can do the same thing. You need to goldilocks it. If the blade does get wobbly, turn off the saw, let it cool, and cut again. It sounds more difficult that it is. Fully support the granite so when you're almost all the way through the weight of the cutoff doesn't snap off, destroying your nice clean cut line. If there is a fabrication place nearby they could do it for you in two minutes. Mongo

Do you think I can put it on the short side of the island (4ft long)? The sink would be 33'' and I would have about 7 inches on each side. I don't think I can rearrange my kitchen to move the fridge/freezer as I like to have the windows flanking the stove and over the main sink. We are building on the river and want to take advantage of the view.

It's My3dogs to the rescue! I had one %#^& of a time finding a sink that would fit that antique bureau. This Kohler Serif was the only one that would work. I used my existing faucet, so mine has a 4" spread, but the model you would want is shown in the link below for a single lever. The overall outside dimensions are approx. 16.5" x 22" and it is only about 1.75" above the counter top. I threw away the template when I did this last fall, but the top of that bureau is only 17 1/2" deep front to back. I even called Kohler at their 800 number and getting the dimensions of the cutout was just about impossible, and it's not listed online in any of their specs. If you have a store nearby that sells Kohler, they could probably get the info for you. I ordered my sink through Home Depot. I have a lot of empty space in my tip-out tray (regular sink, not the one mentioned). I've always wondered what to do with the garbage disposal stopper and that tool for the disposal. Those fit perfectly in my tip-out. My sink stopper also fits, but admittedly with the pokey thing sticking out. I had my tip-out tray added about 2 months after they finished my kitchen. First, we didn't plan for it in the original kitchen because they were expensive when included with the cabinets. We talked to our GC, but the only source for them (other than online) was a contractors-only place that he doesn't get to very often. He finally got there in early November and bought one for us - installed it at the same time as he put in our new front door. I am GLAD I have one. DonnaR/CA
