Best Rose gardens in California
Comments (8)I live in Southern California. Huntington Gardens/Library in San Marino has extensive rose gardens, both modern and antique varieties. Descanso Gardens in La Cañada has their wonderful Rosarium with all kinds of roses (I was there Sunday taking pictures :-) Rose Hills in Whittier is a cemetery with a lovely garden of modern roses. Exposition Park rose garden in Los Angeles has a big garden of modern roses next to the Natural History museum. All of the above have labels for the roses....See MoreA few favorites from my California garden
Comments (13)Thank you all! I just wanted to say that we have pretty cool nights and alot of daylilies do not open well at all. CBME is unusual in that it opens perfectly, every bloom, even on a new plant. If you like it, try it! It is a 10 daylily, IMHO! Jean, hi again! I missed you and wondered how you are. I don't think the daylily folks would want me posting roses, so go over to the Rose Gallery to see my roses. Happy gardening and try to keep cool--hah! K...See MoreMy California cottage garden
Comments (36)Jen, just want to mention it if you don't know yet. "Foxgloves are beautiful, old-fashioned garden flowers, but their dangerous toxins can stop the heart. Foxgloves have been reported to kill livestock, pets, and humans. Children have even been poisoned by drinking the vase water from flower arrangements containing foxgloves. The tall spikes of colorful, tubular blooms are very attractive, so don’t grow them with young ones around. Only well-advised adults should handle the plants or pick their flowers." Make sure your kids won't touch it. https://fafard.com/12-poisonous-garden-plants-to-avoid-for-kids-and-pets/#:~:text=Foxgloves%20are%20beautiful%2C%20old%2Dfashioned,toxins%20can%20stop%20the%20heart.&text=Children%20have%20even%20been%20poisoned,them%20with%20young%20ones%20around....See MoreRoses in my California Garden
Comments (8)Looking great! I also got Desiree thanks to your recommendation. Very pretty coloring and Mystic Beauty is a huge favorite of mine. Souvenir de la Malmaison had to go on the other side of the fence as it needed more sun but Mystic Beauty does just fine with some shade. Can’t wait to see the rest of your garden this year...See MoreBenT (NorCal 9B Sunset 14)
