Powder Bath - Wall or Pendant Light?
Comments (14)Well back in the day (the 70's) when my parents built their house, all the bathrooms (standard 8ft. ceilings) had 2 lights swagged from one center mounted ceiling canopy. Does that make any sense? My sister and her family now live in the house. She updated the fixture but still did the swag setup so that there are two lights on either side of the sink, to avoid the head bashing. One has to like the look of that hanging chain though. Don't know why I felt the need to tell that story...... :) Anyway, I think that making two holes in the ceiling for 2 narrow pendants would be better....See Morelooking for help with type mirror and lighting for this powder room
Comments (5)you could do lots of types. personally I would do something w/sconces since you only have the one sink. or just do a full size mirror (a little bit smaller than the vanity length) or round again, something w/lights. that wall is awfully bare. what else are you doing on it? anything above the toilet? wallpaper, art, sconces,,,,...See MorePowder Bath - Updating Help
Comments (11)Thoughts on something like this? Obviously badly photoshopped, but to give an idea (sconces would be both sides, presumably behind the wall that protrudes there). Wallpaper to add contrast... dark gray/black, gold accents. Not sure how I feel about this mirror, but I'm not used to small mirrors... In truth, this is more up my alley - huge, gaudy, antique-y mirror.... I'm assuming this is a big no? Is there some sort of a rule where size of mirror is concerned? Also, are round mirrors still a trend? I saw them pop up 5-6 years ago and wasn't sure if they'll look dated in the next year or two?...See MoreLighting help for asymmetrical powder bath?
Comments (10)too bad the contractor didn't try and round those sharp edges on the wall. wouldn't have taken much to do something like this. (ignore the style) I would hang a mirror under your lights and some art or a few shelves on the other wall. vanity tray w/a tall plant or stem leaves will buy some veritcal space. see how they did this one on the side? I also like this black wall in back of the vanity. look for a paint color w/red or pink undertones. you have warm, reddish/yellow flooring, and the countertop is a taupe/beige w/pink slightly yellow undertones. Stay away from anything cool, or blue/gray or green. It's a powder room, have some fun w/it! these pendant lights in that corner spot would be a cool idea...See Morejackowskib
