Where Do I Find A Double Front Door?
Comments (2)I was at a auction and found two 8' x 3' door slabs made of ash with glass in the center . I really loved the doors and they went pretty cheap so I bought them . My carpenter was able to make the door frame and put them together to make a double front door and I am really happy with them . I didn't add a transom because they were already very tall doors but that would have been a simple addition . Good Luck...See MoreWhere do I place knobs???
Comments (5)You're welcome! I agree with canobeans! We had smaller double doors for my laundry room, and for some reason, door knobs were not installed on the inside of doors. I added small brass knobs to the center inside of the walk-in laundry room doors. Closing the doors was difficult with the knobs in the center....See MoreFront door landscaping - what do I do here?
Comments (2)The place to start is with a PLAN. Even though you might decide to act as your own landscape designer after getting some advice from people here, you'll still need to convert whatever ideas you come away with into a plan before doing any work. In order to get good advice, you need to convey good information about the existing conditions of your property, mostly through pictures. Here, however, comes the complaint: your pictures are lacking in the information they provide. They're dark, a bit fuzzy, incomplete, and some not from good viewpoints. I see some big trees ... but I don't really see them, or how they affect the picture of your house. One picture should be distant enough to include them so we know how they fit in. Then, from a distance of about 25' from the house, lined up with the front door, there should be a complete, left-to-right span of the property, from lot line to lot line so we can see more detail of what's planted in front of the house. The pictures should slightly overlap so we can follow one picture to the next, and understand what relates to what. Hopefully, you could take such pictures when there are not strong shadows covering the plantings....See MoreWhere do I place furniture?
Comments (2)I love your sweet home! It just needs some tweaking to be at its best for you and your family. Move the tv to the left wall. When the budget allows, add a shallow cabinet underneath it to corral/hide electronics/wires and provide more storage. There are 2 options for the sofa/chair…you could keep the sofa where it is..centered on the window and move the side table/chair to its left, so all seats face the tv, the room remains open, and the chair can be used to put on shoes and as a landing spot when coming into the home OR float the sofa/coffee table/area rug so they face the fireplace…then move the chair in front of the double window with the side table to the right of the sofa. This sofa position is best for those who like to lay on a sofa to watch tv and it keeps the larger baby gear on the floor opposite the fireplace mostly out of sight. Either way, position the area rug so the front legs of the sofa are on the rug. Move the mirror to the wall next to the front door. Reorganize the built-ins so all of the frequently-used smaller baby gear/toys/?? is behind closed doors on the right…infrequently used stuff on the left. Clear the clutter on top of the built-ins and style the shelves with books/photos/small knick-knacks. Place a painting or large family photo above fireplace. Relocate the large photo on front wall to another spot…possibly a bedroom or the wall opposite fireplace....See Morerach7949
