Removing Plastic Decals from Stainless Steel Appliances
Comments (1)The NXR logo is glued-on badge, not a decal. For actual "decals" and the plastic wrapping goo, WD40 is an excellent solvent. If you want to confirm this, a search should turn up several discussions of this in NXR threads here. Not sure about the Frigidaire smudgeproof surfaces, though. Read the cautions section of the Owner's Guide to make sure solvents are okay. Also, the installation and/or "cleaning and maintenance" sections of the Owner's Manual may say something about decals and solvents, too. If not, go to the Frigidaire/Electrolux product site. The page for your fridge will likely have a Q&A section where somebody may already have posted the question but, if not, you can post it yourself and get an answer direct from the company. Also, doesn't Frigidaire/E'lux have an 800 support number? That's all I can think of. As for removing NXR the badge, the best description I've seen was this one: http://ths.gardenweb.com/forums/load/appl/msg1015220127829.html Posted by black88mx6 (My Page) on Mon, Nov 11, 13 at 18:13 * * * Also, if you don't like the big NXR badge, a heat gun and some dental floss will take it off in under a minute. Once done some 3M adhesive remover and a nice clean debadged stove. Keep the badge in case you want to return it to Costco at some time. ;) This post was edited by JWVideo on Thu, Jul 17, 14 at 12:11...See MoreStainless Steel appliances remove stains
Comments (1)What I learned with staineless finishes is that you cannot spot clean. You have to do a whole panel at a time. I've found that virtually anything --- Windex being one example --- will work if you use a microfiber cloth and do the entire door, side panel, or whatever. When I tried Murphy's oil soap, the surface seemed a mite sticky afterwards. I've got some of the Pledge Revitalizing Oil, though and had not thought of trying that. Thanks for the tip....See MoreRemoving scratches from a stainless steel sink-Need help
Comments (15)Let it get scratched! It looks great over time...that's what SS does. We put in the huge Franke pro sink (the biggest and deepest one they make), and I spent a month trying to keep it pristine. Then the first scratches happened from normal metal on metal contact and I quickly got over my scratch phobia. Part of the problem is the brushed #4 finish the sinks and appliance companies use. It's pretty fragile because you have delicate grooves running in one direction. It's very easy to scratch across the grooves. We have a Franke bar sink with a smooth matte SS, and it's still scratch free 2 years later. Our FP double ovens have the smooth matte iridium SS that FP offers, and it's also scratch and stain free after several years. A kitchen sink is meant to be used, not preserved like a piece of art. Kind of like your pots and pans...after several years of hard use, they will show the wear and tear. But it's a good thing to let that happen, and totally natural....See MoreRemove Dent From Stainless Appliances
Comments (8)If the refrigerator comes with a warranty, call KA and inquire about a replacement "skin" for the door. When our KA fridge (a built-in model) was installed, the installer pointed out what appeared to be a dent, or anomaly along the top edge of the freezer door (really only visible because of the way the light hit it). KA sent out a replacement SS skin (at no charge), but when the tech was there, he thought the ripple in the SS was actually the result of one of the screws along the top of the door, being tightened too much, resulting in that slight dip in the metal skin. After he loosened the screw, the dent/ripple disappeared, but he left the skin for us "just in case" we ever needed to replace it. Perhaps they would send a replacement out for you as a goodwill gesture, even if no warranty is in place to cover it. Always worth inquiring! :)...See Morecreek_side
