knotty pine bar area ideas
Comments (2)I like the paint idea, however I would do a semi gloss white for the background wall and a matt warm dark grey for the bar area. I would even consider a stain for the dark grey bar to allow some of the wood grain to shine through. It would be a cool contrast with the clean walls. The gold could look good depending on the actual colour however keep in mind it will be quite the yellowish tone as it's a lower ceiling and already in the darker part of the room... How about just keeping the ceiling white and replacing the sconces with some pretty gold ones, making it look slightly more sophisticated? You can also use gold accent colours in 2-3 bar stools... Not sure what the bar top is made of, but a similar colour dark grey in a glossy finish would make it look quite cohesive with the rest of the bar and the avocado arm rest will be able to shine through. Comments (15)Happy New Year! I hope everyone enjoyed the holidays. I did...LOL So here's the update. Far now, I'm not going to paint the trim/door, or game room entrance until I finished painting. I like the idea of painting the trim and wall the same color. Thoughts? The ceilings are currently being painted Sherwin Williams Highly Reflective white. Any suggestions on a neutral paint color? (something to flow with this granite color below). I'm going to paint the main living area of the house including the kitchen the same color. I took this at night close up of granite The white is the granite...See MoreI'm considering painting the knotty pine in my northwoods cabin
Comments (12)I think your ideas are spot on. <---written by a person who hasn't had a scrap of natural wood trim or walls in decades. I'm a white paint person that prefers to have my color in cabinetry, floors, furnishings and art. I'm also a person who lived in northern Wisconsin for 10 years and "selling and rebuilding" isn't as easy there as it is in other places. Little cabins sell but it's a tougher row to hoe with a large home. Large homes of any style. There are only so many buyers. It's too painful to talk about how I know this, lol. Since you have your own painters, maybe consider whitewashing the ceiling and painting the rest? If you don't like it, you can always paint over the white wash. I like the cable railing ideas....See MoreWhat should I do with all this Knotty Pine and concrete floors?
Comments (12)I‘d consider each room individually. Would lighten all the beans and in living and dining rooms, keep everything else as is. Decor choices will have a big impact. I’d definitely paint the cabinets in kitchen and suggest the look below. If it were me, I’d consider whitewashing walls and/or ceiling in bedrooms and bathroom. I like the floors, they are practical, striking and will save you a ton of money. Adding area rugs will warm spaces up from a visual and practical perspective. Live with them and reassess after you have made other updates and finished decorating. I’m not sure if possible, but perhaps you could restain/refinish them if you didn’t like the color....See MoreDanielle O'Beirne
