Healthy Lifestyle Progress - Week of 3/5
Comments (17)GS sounds great-- I had more beans this week too and I will keep that up. I like them and they are sooo filling! And thanks for mentioning facials, massages etc .. your post encouraged me to use self care kinda things for "treats".. the next bunch of weeks are going to be a strain and my birthday is in April. I will definitely be wanting treats and rewards that are not food! I think I may get some new sneakers too-- I have been wanting to try the On Cloud sneakers ever since I bought my niece a pair in Oct. Sue, great roadtrip options! Hope you have a great trip! Is this the weekend in PA? I had actually thought about going into Phila today but nixed that when the temps plummeted. Among other things, I wanted to go to the Weitzman museum downtown to choose another trovelore pin for my jean jacket. Instead, I will make a pot of soup today -- not sure what as yet. I have to consult the pantry and go from there. I am also going to do some shopping for tops and/or jewelry to up my video game. I have been doing 5-6 interviews a week and I have been looking blah. i want to perk up my look!...See MoreHealthy Lifestyle Progress - Week of 5/21
Comments (25)Congratulations Funky! Your non scale victories are really adding up. Keep being proud of yourself and celebrate your accomplishments! @yeonassky - I've been trying to add weights to my workout since about the first of the year and I love feeling stronger. I haven't noticed a huge body composition change yet, but I am definitely getting stronger. I love the little goals along the way - I can do a mostly real pushup now:) and just a couple weeks ago I started dead hanging. I couldn't get my feet off the ground, and today I hung for a count of 10. It really has amazed me - I don't think I've felt this proud of myself in years:) I would LOVE to be able to do one pull-up. Even as a young girl trying to climb the rope in elementary school gym class, I never had any upper body strength So the thought of a pull-up really makes me happy. Something to work towards. My diet has been ok. I've been pretty lax with the not so great foods, so I should probably tighten that up some, but otherwise it's been pretty steady. For me, it comes down to a good night's sleep and a great breakfast with all the protein and fiber. If I mess up my morning, I have a hard time with the rest of the day. @pricklypearcactus - I hate that you have those food struggles. That really does complicate things that are already difficult. @gsciencechick - I love that you are feeling so optimistic about your upcoming birthday. There is something about being in a better place than last year that makes you feel good! All the young forever people like to say - your birthday is just your chronological age. You are in charge of your body's biological age....See MoreHealthy Lifestyle Progress - Week of 2/11/2024
Comments (29)Oakley hope the medication works. It seems to be working for my DS who has bad bad blood sugar fluctuations and not a great relationship with healthy food. She will be 65 soon enough so I don't think that will change. Shrug. Glad to hear that some of you are doing well with the water. Not I. It seems I can only get down two drinks a day. One is half water half juice and the other one is a cup of ginger tea or decaf coffee. I try to drink another half glass of water in the early evening but always seem to forget. Also I'm not a good protein eater. I think I'm failing in that whole healthy food thing. I fail dismally at replacing the meat for vegetarian protein sources, as I only eat chicken fish and seafood, when I eat animal protein food and often forget to do that. I do eat eggs in the morning and about every third day I add tinned sardines to my faux pho. I love it when I have it but can't have noodle soup everyday. Also I am disappointed that I can't dance my way into muscles.. ;-):-). I have to do more weightlifting so I'm going to try a Zumba with light weights class. I know I need it and if it is successful I will continue to utilize dance with weightlifting. I know they suggest backpacking with weights as well so perhaps I will try that. I suppose I could dance while I am backpacking ;-). Wishing everyone continued success and still totally envious of those who have Pilates in their life. Can't afford it. For some reason can't find a Pilates instruction online that I stick with. So far. ETA this squats improving exercise set. I find this very helpful. https://youtu.be/BqF90pMpjb4?si=VMl19XEFa5C5Ia0E...See MoreHealthy Lifestyle Progress - Week of 2/25/2024
Comments (22)Yes! Reducing stress is a part of a healthy lifestyle! Good for you, Springroz! I hope to get some of my stress under control ... just extended an offer to a person to fill one of my team roles. That should help. I also try to start the day before 5am and that helps soooo much. I get so much done in the quiet of the early morning. I am doing fairly well with eating this week and good but not great with my water consumption. I have NOT gotten outside and active 3x this week. Not even once. I woke up this morning and got dressed for an early walk-- and was bummed to discover it is raining pretty heavily. It is still dark out so maybe it will stop or slow soon. (edited to add that I checked the weather and it is going to continue all day.. boo. I will see if there is a lull later this morning ... if not, maybe I will jump rope on the covered patio) I did indulge last night-- I got my BIL 60 fancy pance burgers for his 60th birthday. I gave him a "burger comparison" kit from the same company for christmas last year and this year I did the same again for all of my siblings. I knew he (and his whole family) love them ... also knew his favorite was the dry aged beef so I ordered them as well as a new blend of brisket and short rib. Last night they had me over for cocktails and burgers (I've been sending them as gifts for 2 yr but never had one for myself!). We had the brisket and short rib burger with mushrooms on an onion roll. Very much a caloric splurge but omg! It was soooo good! I didnt eat prior to going over so I basically put all my calories into that burger (and salad) lol. It was so worth it. Everyone liked the short rib and brisket -- and really, it was *very* good but they all agreed that the dry aged burgers are significantly better. I will be going over next week for the dry aged version! I will have to be especially good all this week-- and maybe commit to 4 days active and outside! Aside: I have to say, the 60 burgers was a last minute gift idea ... but it was a perfect. He knew it was from me as soon as he saw the debragga box delivered lol ... but he was definitely surprised and delighted to find 60 burgers! GS .. feeling strong is a win! I have lost a lot of strength this last 10 yr and especially the last 5 yr. I am eager to get that feeling back. You and Feathers are inspiring! A workout at lunch? It sounds so refreshing! How was your week? Pretty sure I haven't lost weight but I feel good about making better choices (even with the indulgent burger last night!)...See Moregsciencechick
