Huntington Library Plant Sale
Comments (4)The spring sale is the BIG ONE. Every year there is a theme. I worked it a couple years ago and the theme was dwarf plants, but there were alot of plants that were not dwarf as well. The best way to get access to the goodies is to volunteer. After the sale the volunteers get to buy the leftovers at a significant percentage off too. The lady in charge is Shirley (can't think of her last name but everybody knows her, she's been doing the sale for at least 20 years) and she spends most of the year sourcing the plants for the sale. You will find cultivars there that are pretty much very hard to find if not unavailable....See MoreHuntington Library and Botanical Gardens

Comments (6)I agree, I think it’s too expensive too. I can only swing it bc I got a gift membership. They did used to have the sales in the parking lot. I don’t end up spending that much, but I really enjoy looking. I got some bulbs. I saw a bunch of stuff that, if I had more space, I’d have wanted. I saw some roses I haven’t seen before, and one was blooming. “Portland from Glendora,” and it smelled wonderful. There was a really neat little plant that looked like a pea but with dark almost black flowers. I went to a sale at Descanso once, it was pretty good. And my plant had two other plants in it. I’ve never done the Arboretum sale....See Moreerasmus_gw
