Quartzite stress crack or fissure?!?!
Comments (14)We went with Sea Pearl Quartzite. Supposed to be very hard and they broke a number of blades cutting. So far six weeks in no issues. Looks great in my opinion but stone yard tried to sell me some marble first calling it soft quartzite. My fabricator went with us to purchase to make sure we got the right product. Also went with the thicker 3 inch stone slab vs 2 inch....See MoreQuartzite crack and manufacturer response??
Comments (13). They do not usually spread once installed but I will say you always should choose your slabs at the stone yard take pictures and have the slabs labelled while you are there and take more pictures with the labels than at least you know you got what you chose. Those spider webs are pretty usual in quartzite though. I would listen to Joseph and see if the supplier will at least try that first. IMo never pay for something you do not have in place period....See MoreQuartzite Crack at Install
Comments (10)clowns was an understatement. were the installers connected to your purchase of the stone? sometimes they send out their own guys. Or did you find these 'pros' yourself after purchasing the stone on your own time? in any case, they owe you a replacement, or the ability to fix what they've damaged. I don't know if those spider cracks around the sink can be fixed. The stove is a joke. the guy missed the opening and hit your cabinet base?? sorry, but that's just poor, lazy work. he's bad at math. you can clearly see it's over about an inch to the right. you need to talk to the boss of these installers, and get them out there. the adhesive stuff, with all the info out there, i'm surprised these installers aren't on top of it and using the correct adhesive. this comes from fabrication. did they cut it on site or in their shop? I agree, it's not the best match up but, this backsplash is good....See MoreCrack in granite seam at sink & other
Comments (5)"How concerned about this do I need to be? Do I need to contact the fabricator again?" It depends. How was your sink installed please? If the sink is strapped in place instead of being clipped, the crack is no longer structual. "Can I repair?" I wouldn't recommend an attempt. The last thing you want to give your fabricator is an excuse as to how you screwed it up. "Also Is it standard to caulk where the backsplash meets the countertop?" Yes. Caulk color depends upon the stone color. You want silicone caulk, not epoxy, at that change of plane....See MoreArden Hills Estates
