Scapes - Remove or Not to Remove
Comments (0)I cut a foot off the scape yesterday before the bullits could open. Do I remove more of the scape now to tie the garlic for curing? This is my first crop. I'm going out to dig them up now and put them in a vented box with a fan. So much rain and high humidity here. Ideal curing temp and humidity IS? ......? Thanks...See MoreTo remove or not to remove... Sketch added
Comments (16)We have a lot of things that are wrong especially the kitchen cabinets and flooring both of which are a mess in colors and also 30 years ago, so we have to care of that in order to even be able to sell at a reasonable price. We will be adding granite countertops to make it nice, hence the wall removal idea too just because we are doing other things anyway. But I agree wall removal is not a fab idea. There are neighbors who have just cut it partially like 2 feet inside (to countertop height of course) and have been happy. Is that something that would be a put off to a buyer? Thank you for your inputs. Definitely not removing the wall now! But cutting it inside a little will open up the space nice. Request you to use your imagination for inputs, but I also have a picture to share from the neighbor. It was the cabinets guys idea to cut the wall altogether because the partial doesn't make sense to him. What do you all think about the 2 feet inside idea?...See MoreTo Remove Wall or Not Remove Wall
Comments (11)Looks like you already have quite a bit of space in your kitchen, and that it is an eat in kitchen. The dining room looks to be more for guests and having larger dinners. If that is the case, no, I wouldnt remove the wall, guests, do not need to look at pots and pans and cooking utinsels, etc, while they are eating the great meal you prepared. My house was built with the kitchen opening to the formal dining, and it is an eat in kitchen too. I really dislike having guests at the dining room table, staring straight ahead to my kitchen sink, full of cooking pans. However, I have no good way to put a wall up between mine, so it stays that way....See MoreShutters: To remove or not to remove?
Comments (24)You should always go slowly with a project like this so it doesn't away from you. Definitely take off the shutters and do a contrasting color trim. I also agree with power washing the house - you would be surprised at your "new" color. The hedges must be cut down - either lower or remove all together and do a beautiful planting bed there for flowering shrubs. I also agree with painting the door and the stairs/railings. And changing the light fixture - you can have a flood light installed elsewhere. The other thing that would be fun too - decorative curtains - just in the front windows. Take things on step at a time - trim the hedged - step back - take off the shutters - step back - powerwash the house - step back. This way you have a chance to live with your change before making the next. Good luck - post after pictures!...See MoreMarilyn Campbell
