LR color frustration, no match to BM Wythe Blue or SW Quietude
Comments (13)Thanks, I will either give BM a call about colormatching or if they have an equivalent shade. I used BM Regal in pearl finish for the kitchen paneling and then Satin Impervo waterborne for the cabinets. I am very happy with how they both turned out. Or else I may just go with the SW since they have a sale coming up starting Sunday, but I really want an eggshell which they do not seem to offer, just flat and satin. I generally do not like the look of flat paint, looks too chalky to me....See MoreHelp with Navy Blue paint!
Comments (24)Apply two coats of flat latex paint to the grasscloth wallpaper, using a roller. Move the roller vertically across the wallpaper, proceeding left to right. Allow the first coat of flat paint to dry for two hours before applying the second. Use a paintbrush to prime areas of the grasscloth wallpaper that are inaccessible to the roller. Let the wallpaper dry for two hours. Clean the roller by washing it. Apply the finish coat to the grasscloth wallpaper, using the same method used to prime it. Satin latex paint will provide the most attractive result. The two pre-coats of flat latex paint act as a primer for the grasscloth wallpaper. Although it may seem like a nuisance, apply both of these coats, or the finish may dry unevenly. Hale Navy and Naval are both nice...See MoreDare I paint my house BM Hale Navy?
Comments (32)yeah, I think I like the cream w/the green. and the navy. But the more I look at that pic w/the dark trim, it kind of grows on me! I'd want more wood though. and maybe spruce up the landscaping. I suppose if you did a medium gray, you could do a dark charcoal trim. It just depends on the overall look you want. i do like the cedar posts though. and I'd prob add one or two more for symmetry it would be lot to redo all of the eaves w/cedar, but what if you stripped and stained them the cedar shade like the posts?? or you could do all of that jasper, but the underside the cream? or just the stiles cream? you'd have to play around w/diff looks...See MoreHELP - Seeking a rich and brilliant Navy Blue Paint for home exterior
Comments (38)Part of the beauty of MCM is that the design was based on what Frank Lloyd Wright coined "organic architecture". The elements on the outside were designed to blend into and be a part of the natural surroundings. Although Cypress was Wrights favorite wood, Redwood siding is classic MCM and was used in many of the homes that he designed. https://www.masterclass.com/articles/organic-architecture-guide#what-is-the-purpose-of-organic-architecture It is your home, but I think if you own a classic MCM home you may want to understand the core concepts of the architectural style before making any major design changes. If you hate redwood and want to change it you may want to consider using colors from the natural surroundings rather than colors that will pop. That said, one of my favorite home exteriors is a cottage painted in SW Begonia. For me, it fits with the style of the home....See MoreMelissa R
