Comments (14)Karalouise, The white perimeter cabinets will have Zodiaq Eclipse Blue countertops and the island will have Venezian granite in Polo, which is a white/gold/grey granite that has a brushed finish and a natural edge. I fell in love with the textured feel of it -- the fact that it's textured makes it very different and not something I'll see in everyone else's kitchen. I'm not fond of shiny, so that was appealing. It's a quiet pattern -- we're using granites with more movement in the bathrooms! At this point we're thinking the backsplash will be Oceanside Glasstile Geologie. We really like the little sample of Silver Peak but larger areas look more splotchy than my taste. So I think it will be Rocky Mountain instead. Pulls and knobs will be pewter. Sink: Silgranit Anthracite, but I'm not sure which one yet. Floor is grey ceramic tile. The whole look will be blues and greys with the white/pewter cabinets. There's quite a bit of natural light so I don't think it will come off as cavelike. I took a picture of my little sample of the island granite but no matter how I held it, the texture doesn't show up! The cabinet door is in the background. Comments (2)I'm curious about the InHaus Sono product as well...we wanted Coretec but I'm curious about the InHaus Sono with the ceramic core. We have a lot of sun coming through the back of our house and we don't want a floor that fades or shifts in the heat. We frequently have hurricanes as well and end up with the power out and tons of heat and humidity in the house. Three kids and three dogs take a toll, too. If anyone has other suggestions on this post I'd love to hear them and photos are great, too!...See MoreA loft floor with some give and fluctuating temps and best air quality
Comments (7)Lico is a 'supplier' so you won't find very much on them in the USA. They focus mainly on the European market. If you can speak another language, you are welcome to look at their 'German' or 'Spanish' language page. They have much more detail. Their certifications are all in German...so if you have anyone who can speak that language you will find HORDES of information about them. https://finesse-floors.com/downloads/ This is where you find the 'good stuff'. The testing information. These floors have been tested by the ECO Institut (Germany's highest testing level...only Japan has a more rigorous testing process). That tells me all I need to know. Testing at the ECO Institut is SOOOOO expensive (how expensive is it SJ?) that most companies won't even try. They cannot afford the price to test and they cannot afford to fail...because it is upsetting to spend all that money only to have your product fail. Lico also produces some AMAZING laminate (so healthy I could just spit ;-P). And everything that is 'recyclable' has a caveat (which includes your water bottles, pop bottles, etc). The facilities do exist...just not in N. America. They exist in Europe...but not here. Why? Because they are EXPENSIVE. And in Europe, if a company says their product is recyclable, the company has to PAY a premium (a cost of $$ per square foot) to ensure the country has a facility that can take their product. It is all part of the European infrastructure which does NOT exist in N. America ('cause we like the idea of the Wild Wild West). Good luck. I know you will find what is right for you....See MoreAnyone with Sonos help me figure out the main area? Thanks.
Comments (8)We use Sonos in our current home, and will use it in our new build. The flexibility (moving speakers around) is much easier with a wireless system. We are not audiophiles, so a sound snob might claim the system is not as good, but we're happy with it. In our open floor family room, we have a sound bar and the sub at the front, and a Five in each of the two back corners, both mounted higher up with the plug cords fished thru the wall for a more finished look. This works for our "home theater" setup. There are also plenty of 3rd party Sonos speaker stands on the market. We probably have about 8 or 9 Sonos Ones throughout the rest of the house; bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, office, etc. Our kitchen is open to the family room and yes, I can be listening to my own music on the Sonos in the kitchen while someone else is listening to the tv in the family room. A feature we love is the ability to group different speakers. If I'm walking back and forth between bedroom and laundry room, I can sync them so I can hear the music in both rooms. When I'm home alone, I use "party mode" so that every Sonos in the house is playing my Audible book in sync while I move around the house to do chores. We run the system through the Sonos app, available on all of our phones, tablets and computers. It's very simple to use. We also have Brilliant light switches, so can control Sonos through that as well. I'm not the techie (husband set it up) but I believe in our 3 story, 4000 sq ft house we only have one Sonos bridge. We do use a wife booster in our house, but with 4 teenagers, that was needed even without the Sonos, If you've got more questions, let me know. My husband may be able to better answer than me. But we've been happy Sonos customers for almost 10 years now....See MoreDanny Kerner
