Comments (12)ha ha Jan I just emailed you about Krimson Queen!!! lol Do you guys want me to do any trade transporting? I am meeting Jan at lunch Thursday and also going to Ricky's so i can take Helen,s. Here's my lil Krimson Queen! The pink edges don't come thru in the photos. Either of you want some of this one. I am sure it's pretty common. It seems so much happier out under the pool screen than in my bedroom window. I got this 1/3 this size a couple yrs ago from Lindaleaf. BTW Helen, You want some cuttings of that coral crown behind the Krimson Queen? It's getting kind of tall and I might as well start a few cuttings of it for Ricky's....See MoreHoya Collector Ready to trade/sell My Plants are all over 2 years old
Comments (15)Yes, I bought a bunch of shells to start mostly Dischidias in and I just drill a hole at the bottom. But interestingly, some shells are VERY hard and thick and difficult to drill! Others just take a second or two. The challenge is finding some kind of wire to use to hang the shell with - I'm working on that. You can put air plants (Tillandsias), Dischidias, small Hoyas (I have a hueschkeliana in one; picta would be excellent in one as well...) Nice thing is that you can hang them anywhere - if you have a few inches between some plants, hang one of these little works of art. Comments (9)eOld 1900's greenhouse /field nursery cleanliness operating procedures required bleaching pots/tools/accessories with dilute bleach ( 10% or less solutions) to kill any pathogenic bacteria/soilborne fungi that would quickly attack plant roots. With that background our family has done this since opening the family greenhouse in the 1920's and the nursery business subsequent. My mother began bleaching hosta divisions when that was the only way to propagate them (before tc) and had very good success with overall plant disease control. I have done the same since.. After dividing, using cool water to dilute, leave roots in diluted bleach solution up to one hour or until the root tissues smell of bleach when you remove them. Remove and air dry then replant. Avoid bleach solution temps getting warm, leaving them to soak in the sun or letting them soak too long so the tissue as the root issue will get soft....See More3 gallon little bluestem large enough to divide?
