Need help with counter-top and backsplash selection
Comments (1)I think white would be a nice contrast. I've attached a link to a GW member's (kellienoelle) kitchen that used Delicatus granite & a classic white backsplash. Comments (11)Thanks for the input. I lean toward the Raven and Calacatta, too. (In fact we just told our contractor to put the order in for the countertop). I'm still not 100% sold on the marble tile, though, I originally wanted a carrera that would be more muted, but the tile shop we're using doesn't have anything that looks right with Raven. I just worry that the Calacatta is SO white. When I see kitchens like this: http://bungalowhomeinteriors.blogspot.com/2012/04/clients-home.html my eye is drawn to how cool the tile looks next to the cabinetry. Guess I'm also concerned that the calacatta has more movement in it, which could be distracting. I'm loving the look of this kitchen (also with Raven), but I don't know what the tile is: https://www.houzz.com/photos/south-pasadena-craftsman-traditional-kitchen-los-angeles-phvw-vp~14622889-Pasadena-Craftsman-traditional-kitchen-los-angeles Does anyone regret getting marble backsplash?...See MoreBacksplash tile to counter or is counter trim piece needed?
Comments (4)Found the right search: "tile backsplash granite counter" and sure enough many people have asked. Here's one: http://ths.gardenweb.com/discussions/2696049/3-granite-backsplash-needed-if-plan-to-tile-backsplash-kitchen?n=5 Takeaway is that it is definitely not necessary and the majority of people don't like it with the extra granite piece. Someone observed that this probably ends up this way most often when the tile was added later over the original granite backsplash....See MoreHow to pick Kitchen Backsplash for dark cabinet and dark countertop?
Comments (15)If you do a search on Houzz for "cherry cabinets dark countertops" many examples pop up. Create a "Kitchen Wood Cabinets" Ideabook with those features to get ideas about lighting, possibly changing out one or two cabinet fronts with glass ones, new countertops. Many pros on Houzz recommend living in a new house for a year before making major changes. Maybe by then the mania for all white kitchens will die down and you'll put your household budget to uses other than a major renovation. You have a very nice kitchen already. Here's just one of many kitchens in my Houzz Ideabook, "Kitchen Wood Cabinets."...See MoreMatt C
