Comments (2)They work great for peeling apples. Do bushels a year with one. Never tried them for curly fries so just a guess but it should work. Dave...See MoreFinding a good potato peeler
Comments (16)My daughter worked in a cookware shop for a couple of months and tried all sorts of peelers but I have never found a better one than the cheapest available plastic handled swivel blade ones made by Dalson of Australia. It is very simple, light and fits in the hand. I have one which I have been using for at least 18 years. I use it on carrots and parsnips too if they need peeling. The blade has never been sharpened. It costs 95 pence over here (ca. $1.40). It' so cheap you might as well try one if you can find one. I can only find a tiny picture on Google. Here is a link that might be useful:...See MoreApple peeler and corer
Comments (4)Thanks for the heads up! LOL, Morz8!!! Apple season is almost here, and I sure want one of those, but we have company coming, and two birthdays in the next month, so I'm having a hard time spending money on something for me! Sigh ... I guess I can be "the peeler" for one more year, but I'm putting that on my Christmas wishlist for sure! Bonnie...See MoreWhich apple peeler/corer/slicer ?
Comments (13)I have a White Mountain one and a real antique one. Both work good so long as your apples are fairly symmetrical, unbruised and firm fleshed. (I bought 3 bushels of Wolf River apples year before last only to learn that Wolfs were too soft to work on the peelers. ugh.) I had a Pampered Chef one but it didn't work very good for me; the White Mountain one worked better. But other people like the PC one; how good they work probably depends a lot on the apples you're working with. Like Lindac mentioned, stay away from the suction cup base in favor of one you can clamp down and make sure that the clamp base will open wide enough to clamp to your counter. Otherwise, you'll have to improvise a way to clamp it down. Probably not a good idea to try clamping to a stone counter. The operation can get pretty messy, esp. if you're doing a lot of apples so you may end up moving peeling outside or to a garage. (If you're processing apples to freeze, a simple dunk in salt water (don't need much salt) prevents the apples from turning dark.)...See Moreplllog
