Help with living room layout, and decor.
Comments (40)I love the room cashet posted with the blue L shaped sofa - the difference in that room is that both sides of the sectional have a window adjacent to see/look out of....your room would have the sofa backed up to the window and while it might look ok from the rest of the room, when you are sitting on the sofa, all you would see is the wall with the pew on it instead of your beautiful windows. And I'll bet there is a fireplace or tv opposite the blue sectional, too. So consider, not only how the couch will look against the window (it might be lovely) but what you'll see when you're seated. I'd much prefer to look out the windows than have them to my back, but maybe that's just me :-) But if you do like that arrangement best, consider a large mirror on the pew wall, to reflect the view from the windows....See MoreHelp me decorate my living room - Desperate help needed!
Comments (51)Hello friends. I am afraid I need your help once again! We have finally settled on a new sofa, accent chairs and the place we are getting all of this from has agreed to also throw in a rug for us if I happen to like one from their suppliers. I fell in love with a rug they have as well as accent pillows I think will match well. We have also decided on the color of the accent chairs and the model of the sofa. My issue : I CANNOT decide on a sofa color!!! Everyone is telling me to do light grey but I am afraid it won't go with the rug I like. I am swayed towards a white sofa (it is more off white, I will post a picture of the swatch bellow) in order to flow with my chairs and everything else. I had spoken to the designer who did our plan and she said I can go with a white sofa no problem. Everyone is saying do light grey. I know I can pick another rug but I am SO In love with the one I have chosen and I think it will make the space... Can anyone advise me on what to do? I do like a light grey sofa but I also really like the colors in the rug...We have to order this week in order to make it in time for Christmas and I am very undecided. You have all been so helpful and if you aren't utterly sick of me, I would appreciate the advice! Here is the link to the sofa we have chosen: https://mikazahome.ca/product/sevan/ We will get the 89 inch modification sofa with a 9 inch arm on one side (you can see example in the photos) and a 5 inch on the other end. Legs will be like in the second photo on the side. Here is a swatch of the white that we had chosen (ignore the leather, it is the material swatch next to it). Photo of the accent chair: Photo of the rug: Accent pillows: We are also hesitating for the accent chairs - there is another chair we like but it is not as much of a good quality as the one above. I will insert a photo here - feel free to let me know which one would be better. In other words, which chairs? Which color sofa? Do I go with light gray sofa and change the rug or go with off white sofa? Thank you!...See MoreHelp with Living Room Layout, New Couches, Decor (everything)
Comments (15)You have two nice features; the fireplace and the brick wall, plus a nice bit of light. Painting those dark blocks outside white will enhance the brightness and look cleaner overall. Then paint your walls that taupe/greige of the mortar on the brick wall. I think that color will work well with the fireplace too. Try two 3-seat sofas and two swivel chairs in a "U" in the middle of the room. The swivel chairs will close the bottom of the "U" and can turn to the fireplace or the piano. Be careful not to buy big puffy oversized seating. Your rug may work fine. Replace it last. I don't see any electrical outlets for lamps, but you need some. A chandelier on a dimmer will work for your ambient lighting, but you need task and accent lamps too. Shop for a piece of art 75% as wide as the piano to go 5" above it....See Moreliving room layout/decor help
Comments (13)Perhaps float a sofa where they have the love with its back to the stairwell wall and a walkway behind it. Then use 4 swivel chairs; two facing or flanking the fireplace and two with backs to the 4-window end of the room. Put TV opposite the fireplace. Add a game table in one window corner, and if there's room, a pair of chairs or chaises in the other window corner. Here's a room with 4 swivels; they make for a nice way to allow you to enjoy all the focal points....See MoreNew-home-owner
